Store Specialist - Wine, Tobacco & Wine (WTW)

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Specialist for its Wine, Tobacco & Wine (WTW) department. Specialists are key leaders on the store floor who support the General Manager in delivering high-quality products at a competitive price. The role supervises the team, manages inventory, works with vendors and keeps the department running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Supervise and assign work for evening and part-time crew, train new employees and instruct cashiers and associates
• Stock, rotate and face product on shelves, check out-of-stocks, ad items and back stock, and order merchandise as directed by the department head
• Control inventory, monitor sales regularly and suggest ideas to the General Manager
• Meet with vendors for point-of-purchase materials and other sales-enhancing items
• Price items for displays, review price tags and update signage
• Handle and resolve customer issues professionally
• Unload trucks, clean display cases, maintain equipment and floors, and follow sanitation procedures
• Take on management duties in the absence of the Department Manager and handle special projects

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Six months or less of related work experience preferred
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades, and to operate a delivery vehicle in line with DOT standards where applicable
• Ability to stand and walk frequently during a shift, with exposure to noise, temperature extremes, cleaning chemicals and occasional electrical hazards

Employment is contingent upon a successful pre-employment drug screen. The position reports to the General Manager and has no direct reports listed in the posting.
