Store Detective - Asset Protection

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Store Detective for its Elkhart location. The role keeps the store safe for customers, team members and vendors, investigates internal and external theft including organized retail crime, and promotes proactive, preventive asset protection and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot for potential hazards
• Walk through the backroom and sales floor
• Review cashier exception reports, theft activity reports and follow up as needed
• Conduct internal theft surveillance and shoplifting surveillance
• Report safety hazards to Store Leadership and test and inspect camera equipment and alarm system printers
• Participate in apprehending those who break the law and assist in prosecuting external theft cases
• Document incidents thoroughly, including facts that may be needed for litigation
• Testify in criminal and civil court proceedings
• Follow all safety practices and perform other duties as required

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• At least 6 months of security experience, or at least 1 year of general work experience
