Store Accounting Coordinator

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Store Accounting Coordinator in its Grocery department in Windom. The role covers store accounting such as posting sales, scanning checks for back-office conversion, cash accountability, accounts payable and receivable and some inventory procedures. It reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, and the starting hourly wage is $14.00 to $17.50 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, greet customers by name and help them find products
• Verify registers, count the safe and gift cards, gather Western Union and utility reports, and reconcile with prior-day sales
• Scan checks, balance cash and checks, prepare deposits, and print reports from store servers
• Prepare and review check-out and cash accountability reports, distribute sales and print the sales ledger
• Evaluate daily money needs and keep the safe stocked appropriately
• Reconcile invoices, EFT and store accounts receivable with corporate monthly, and reconcile FTD/Teleflora items monthly
• Complete third-party pharmacy reconciliation as needed and maintain department and company guidelines on hygiene and dress
• Secondary duties include assisting with monthly reconciliations, preparing payroll, collecting bad checks, calling customers with charges over 60 days old, and handling other store tasks

Required profile

• High school education or 6 to 12 months of similar or related work experience
• Ability to solve practical problems, do arithmetic with fractions, decimals and percentages, and handle money safely
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently, with normal vision and color vision

The position involves daily contact with customers, suppliers and the public, access to confidential information, and occasional pressure to meet deadlines. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen.
