Sterile Processing Technician

About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician supports the Veterinary Teaching Hospital by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are cleaned, disinfected, inspected, assembled, sterilized, and distributed safely and efficiently. This role is essential for infection prevention, patient safety, and the educational experience of veterinary students.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and organization of surgical instrument packs and procedure trays.
• Assemble surgical packs accurately according to clinician and service‑specific requirements, including proper labeling, sterilization indicators, dating, and documentation.
• Maintain specialized surgical instrumentation and equipment, following proper cleaning, storage, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Communicate with clinical services to ensure timely availability of surgical supplies and instrument sets for patient care and student instruction.
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to hospital policies, infection‑control standards, and regulatory requirements.
