State and Local Tax – Income Franchise Manager

About the role

As a State and Local Tax – Income Franchise Manager, you will advise clients on complex local tax regulations, help optimise their tax positions and lead delivery of tax compliance projects within PwC’s Tax practice. You will manage client accounts, mentor junior staff and drive strategic tax planning across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret local tax laws and regulations to provide actionable advice.
• Lead teams through planning, budgeting, execution and completion of tax compliance engagements.
• Coach and develop team members, leveraging their strengths to ensure high‑quality client service.
• Design and implement multistate tax compliance strategies and payroll tax efficiency reviews.
• Conduct strategic questioning to identify tax optimisation opportunities.
• Manage conflicts and facilitate difficult conversations with clients and stakeholders.
• Uphold PwC’s professional and technical standards, including independence requirements.
• Perform reverse audits and unclaimed property compliance reviews to validate tax positions.
• Embrace technology and innovation to enhance service delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher).
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Professional credential such as CPA, Bar membership, or other tax/finance qualification.
• Demonstrated expertise in multistate tax compliance and reverse audits.
• Strong analytical thinking and strategic questioning abilities.
• Curiosity for change and continuous learning.
