Staff Veterinarian

About the role

The Staff Veterinarian provides veterinary oversight, clinical care, and disease prevention for research animals at Clinvet NY, supporting the Animal Care and Use Program and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care, conduct examinations, diagnose and treat health conditions, and manage humane endpoints.
• Support preventive medicine, disease surveillance, colony health monitoring, and veterinary health programs.
• Oversee surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia, and post‑procedure monitoring.
• Review study plans, advise on animal welfare, and collaborate with research and quality teams to ensure protocol compliance.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records and ensure inspection‑ready conditions of veterinary areas and equipment.

Required profile

• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school.
• Current, unrestricted New York State veterinary license (or eligibility).
• USDA accreditation (Category I or II) or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in laboratory animal medicine or research.
• Strong clinical judgment and effective communication skills.
