Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Infrastructure & Productivity team in Seattle. You will lead the technical strategy and delivery of developer productivity platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy and delivery of developer productivity platforms.
- Identify productivity bottlenecks with feature teams and design scalable solutions across developer tooling, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, messaging and workflow automation.
- Define and drive an AI-powered developer productivity strategy, including AI-assisted code review, automated test generation, intelligent build optimization and agent-based root-cause analysis.
- Shape architecture, review RFCs, establish engineering practices and mentor engineers across the Infrastructure & Productivity domain.
- Partner with engineers, SREs and stakeholders to measure and improve developer experience through build times, deployment frequency, deployment reliability and developer satisfaction.
Required profile
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling or platform infrastructure at scale.
- Strong system design skills and experience defining technical strategy for a team or domain.
- Technical leadership experience: architectural decisions, RFC reviews, mentoring engineers and raising quality standards.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services and infrastructure management tools.
- Preferred: experience in platform engineering or developer experience at a technology or fintech company, and a data-driven approach to developer productivity (DORA metrics, developer NPS).
Required skills
- Backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Rust or Node.js and their frameworks.
- Large-scale distributed systems with high concurrency, load and availability requirements.
- Cloud services (AWS, GCP or Aliyun) and tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker.
- Preferred: observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, ELK stack), Kafka, Bazel or Gradle, and AI tools such as Cursor or Copilot.
The role is hybrid: you will work from the Seattle office three days a week. Applications are made through the company's careers site.
