Staff+ Software Engineer, Identity & Access Controls

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Staff+ Software Engineer to join its Identity & Access Controls team in San Francisco. The team builds the infrastructure that verifies customers, grants access to advanced AI capabilities, and protects against misuse, playing a key part in the responsible deployment of frontier models.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement KYC/KYB identity verification and vetting systems for individual and business customers.
• Develop access control mechanisms that grant, scope, and revoke usage of advanced AI models based on approved use cases.
• Build infrastructure to configure safety settings and detection thresholds per customer for trusted access programs.
• Create monitoring, alerts, dashboards, and internal admin tools to detect misuse and enable enforcement actions.
• Detect and remediate account takeover incidents and integrate with third‑party identity verification and data enrichment vendors.
• Collaborate with policy, enforcement, threat intelligence, and go‑to‑market teams to ensure consistent access decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Commitment to the societal impact of AI and desire to make powerful systems safer.
