Staff Scientist

About the role

The Staff Scientist will join the Immunohistochemistry Department of the Histopathology Laboratory at the Lombardi Cancer Center. This role supports both translational and basic research projects focused on biomarker discovery and validation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform immunohistochemical tissue staining and slide preparation.
• Operate slide scanners, acquire images, and conduct image analysis for biomarker studies.
• Prepare billing statements and provide cost estimates for services.
• Maintain laboratory safety protocols, including use of biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, and personal protective equipment.
• Collaborate with the Human Tissue Bank, histology laboratory, and principal investigators to coordinate specimen processing.

Required profile

• Master’s degree required; PhD preferred.
• 1‑2 years of laboratory experience with immunohistochemistry and image analysis.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals and bio‑hazardous agents.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lb.
