Standardized Patient – Temporary (Medical Education)

About the role

The Standardized Patient (SP) role supports the Georgetown University School of Medicine by portraying patient cases for student learning and assessment. SPs simulate realistic histories, physical findings, and emotional states, and provide feedback on students' clinical and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately portray a specific patient case from memory, maintaining realism and consistency across interactions.
• Provide verbal and/or written constructive feedback to learners after each simulation.
• Complete case checklists with at least 95% accuracy.
• Wear provided clinical attire (hospital gown and appropriate undergarments) during on‑camera or live sessions.
• Allow repeated physical‑examination maneuvers by students and faculty.
• Participate in audio‑ and video‑recorded simulations (on‑site and via Zoom) and demonstrate technical competency.
• Accept and incorporate ongoing feedback from supervisors.
• Demonstrate flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments.
