Staff Physician – Medicine, Hospital Medicine

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a dedicated Staff Physician to provide high‑quality inpatient care in the Medicine and Hospital Medicine services. The physician will manage patient assignments, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive medical treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors.
• Perform thorough physical assessments and prescribe appropriate medical therapies and clinical drugs.
• Gather accurate patient information through record review and interviews with patients, families, and other health professionals.
• Report to the supervising physician, document QA incidents, and notify appropriate personnel of hazardous conditions or equipment issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient data in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Participate in continuing medical education to keep knowledge current.

Required profile

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school (or foreign equivalent).
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in the relevant specialty.
• Valid, unrestricted Florida Medical License (or eligibility to obtain prior to credentialing).
• Current BLS certification; ACLS certification if applicable.
• Valid DEA licensure.
• Commitment to maintain CME requirements and adhere to university policies.
