Staff Physician - Medicine, Geriatrics and Gerontology

About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics at the University of Miami is seeking a dedicated Staff Physician to provide comprehensive medical care to adult patients in an outpatient ambulatory setting across multiple satellite locations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural aspects of patient health.
• Examine patients, obtain histories, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated care.
• Document all services accurately in the patient chart and comply with medical staff policies.
• Participate in a 24‑hour coverage schedule, including after‑hours calls and hospital coverage.
• Make referrals to specialists as needed and represent UHealth facilities within the community.
• Report quality‑assurance incidents, hazardous conditions, and equipment issues according to department guidelines.

Required profile

• Board‑certified MD or DO in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Geriatrics (must obtain certification within two years of hire).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities under pressure.
