Staff Pharmacist – Inpatient Hospital (Contract)

About the role

This contract position supports inpatient pharmacy operations at a 222‑bed hospital in Lancaster, Ohio, from late May through mid‑August 2026. The role focuses on medication management for an average daily census of 120 patients, providing clinical and operational support in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify inpatient medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Oversee sterile, non‑sterile, and hazardous compounding processes.
• Attend hospital codes and deliver pharmacotherapy support.
• Assist nursing and provider staff with antibiotic and renal dosing.
• Dispense medications and provide patient education as needed.
• Support pharmacy operations alongside technician staff, including preparation and delivery of medications.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and active Ohio pharmacist license.
• Minimum 1 + year experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Solid knowledge of CPOE verification and pharmacotherapy, especially antibiotic and renal dosing.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and cover every sixth weekend.

• Cerner EHR (order entry system; training provided).
• Pyxis Automated Dispensing Cabinet.
• Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) verification.
