Staff Epidemiologist – NIEHS Literature Review

About the role
As a Staff Epidemiologist you will support systematic evidence mapping, literature reviews, and health hazard assessments for a NIEHS‑funded project. Working closely with senior scientists, toxicologists, and exposure experts, you will evaluate epidemiologic evidence to inform environmental and public health decisions. Candidates located in the Raleigh‑Durham‑Chapel Hill area are preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct literature screening, data extraction, study quality, and risk‑of‑bias assessments.
- Develop systematic evidence maps, scoping reviews, and full systematic reviews.
- Apply epidemiologic principles and evidence‑evaluation frameworks to assess study findings and public‑health impact.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate epidemiologic, toxicologic, exposure, and mechanistic data.
- Draft technical reports, scientific publications, and other project deliverables.
- Support scientific presentations, client interactions, and peer‑review activities.
- Utilize literature‑review technologies, evidence‑management platforms, and data‑visualization tools to enhance synthesis processes.
Required profile
- Master’s degree + 7 years or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience in epidemiology, environmental health, public health, biostatistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
- Strong ability to evaluate study design, exposure assessment, confounding, and statistical methods.
