Staff Electrical Engineer – Advanced Underwater Systems

About the role

As a Staff Electrical Engineer (Engineer IV) you will be a key member of Oceaneering’s ADTECH engineering team, developing complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical solutions for US Navy and government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze electrical components and subsystems for underwater robotic systems.
• Lead and mentor small to medium teams of electrical engineers, producing significant portions of system designs.
• Generate designs from high‑level requirements, make decisions with minimal supervision, and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to integrate solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (or advanced) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of hands‑on electrical engineering experience in concept through testing of complex electromechanical/robotic systems.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a government clearance.

Required skills

• Electrical design and analysis, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB design.
• Selection and integration of COTS components, power supplies, control devices, and communication interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, RS‑485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.).
• Proficiency with CAD/EDA tools such as Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical.
• Use of test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
