Staff Dentist

About the role

Petaluma Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving Southern Sonoma County and West Marin, is hiring a full-time Staff Dentist. The dentist evaluates, diagnoses, prevents and treats diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth, periodontal tissues and related oral structures, and provides dental education. The clinic is integrated with a co-located medical department and uses a care-team model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and manage patient care across basic and advanced dental services for patients of all ages, delivering treatment plans with informed consent discussions
• Perform dental restorations, crowns, bridges, implant-supported restorations and dentures, root canal therapy, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics within the scope of the clinic's practice
• Manage patient care, make referrals and communicate with specialists, and educate patients
• Supervise and guide dental auxiliaries and front office staff, including scheduling and patient panel management
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records and document visits to support billing and quality of care
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Dental Board of California, OSHA, CalOSHA and infection control guidelines, and protect patient confidentiality
• Work with the IT department and dental software (Dentrix, Guru, Dexis), dental laboratories and outside vendors, and contribute to the clinic's budget goals

Required profile

• Degree from an ADA-accredited dental school (required)
• Ability to diagnose and perform manual dental procedures, with good judgment of space, shape and color and manual dexterity
• Good business sense, self-discipline and communication skills
