Geriatrician - Internal Medicine Physician

About the role

Petaluma Health Center provides high-quality, patient-centered care in Southern Sonoma County and West Marin. It is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, Geriatrics physician to deliver primary and consultative care to adult and elderly patients. The physician works as an integral part of the medical staff, taking part in strategic initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients within the licensed scope of practice for a defined panel, and follow them up
• Take histories, perform physical examinations, order diagnostics and implement therapy in the outpatient setting according to standard practice and ACP guidelines
• Provide admission, work-up, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment for patients in skilled nursing facilities and hospitals if qualified under licensure, board specialization and hospital privileges
• Provide geriatrics consultation and transition-of-care consultation to PHC providers at all sites
• Back up mid-level providers on site or by phone during the day and after hours
• Supervise PAs and FNP's according to agreed scope of practice and comply with federal and state regulations
• Meet productivity requirements, arrive on time and work full shifts, and cooperate with the medical staff to cover evenings and weekends
• Maintain credentials, including the California medical license, DEA registration, CME hours, CPR certification and others

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency
• Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with a current California license and DEA
• Board certified in Geriatrics, or evidence of enhanced education and/or 5+ years of experience with geriatric patients
• Ability to meet the center's credentialing and privileging requirements
• Bilingual English and Spanish, written and verbal, preferred

Required skills

• CPR/BLS certification
