Staff Dentist

About the role

Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH), a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the Finger Lakes Region, is hiring a Staff Dentist. The dentist provides diagnostic and treatment services to the community under the procedures adopted by the facility in line with New York State Department of Health regulations for Diagnostic and Treatment Centers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, crowns and bridges, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics and minor oral surgery
• Order and interpret x-rays, and administer and prescribe anesthetics and medications
• Schedule follow-up appointments and refer patients to other clinical programs or outside agencies as needed
• Oversee the site dental staff so that patient care meets appropriate dental standards
• Maintain dental records and chart and lock notes in a timely way, and handle telephone encounters in the electronic health record in line with FLCH policies

Required profile

• Current unrestricted license to practice as a dentist in New York State
• CPR certification required (can be provided)
• 1 to 3 years of experience working as a licensed dentist
• Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings
• Valid NYS driver's license in compliance with FLCH driver policy
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, sit for long periods, and kneel, crawl or bend into awkward spaces; OSHA Level 1
