Staff Auditor

About the role

Habitat for Humanity International is seeking a Staff Auditor to evaluate internal controls across its headquarters, international offices, and selected programs. This remote position based in the US involves 40-60% travel and supports the organization’s mission of building housing equity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, executing, and reporting operational, financial, and compliance audits.
• Prepare audit planning memos, risk‑based programs, and test plans.
• Conduct fieldwork, document findings, and ensure compliance with IIA standards.
• Review peer audit workpapers and provide constructive feedback.
• Draft audit reports and monitor recommendation follow‑up.
• Coordinate consulting and advisory services as needed.
• Support the development of the annual risk‑based internal audit plan.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, IT or related field.
• 3‑5 years of professional experience in external/internal audits or forensic accounting, preferably with a public accounting firm.
• Experience with international travel and cross‑cultural communication.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of the COSO International Control Integrated Framework.
• Experience with auditing software such as Galvanize HighBond.
• Ability to use data‑analytics tools for queries and trend analysis.
