Staff Attorney – Victim Services

About the role

The Staff Attorney, Victim Services provides direct civil legal assistance and advocacy for older victims of crime across Philadelphia and surrounding counties. This full‑time position works on both individual client matters and broader systemic issues affecting senior victims.

Key responsibilities

• Provide civil legal representation to older victims, including filing protection petitions, quiet‑title actions, and other litigation to address abuse and fraud.
• Prepare and file revocation documents, powers of attorney, and represent clients in financial‑exploitation cases, landlord‑tenant disputes, mortgage foreclosures, spousal support, kinship/custody, and debt‑collection matters.
• Collaborate with police, district attorneys, and legal advocates to coordinate criminal and civil proceedings and develop safety‑planning strategies.
• Conduct client intake, screening, and interviews, assess case merits, and manage all aspects of case preparation and court filings.
• Identify systemic problems affecting older victims and work with local, state, and national partners to develop policy solutions.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree and active admission to the Pennsylvania Bar.
• Experience in civil litigation, elder law, or victim‑services advocacy.
• Demonstrated ability to serve low‑income, culturally diverse older adults.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to public‑interest law.
