Civil Rights Attorney

About the role

Marshall Dennehey, P.C., a nationally recognized Am Law 200 civil defense law firm with more than 60 years of service, is seeking a civil rights attorney for its Philadelphia office. The practice is teamwork-based and client-focused, with opportunities to try cases in Federal Court and to defend government officials, police officers, prison guards, cities and municipalities against civil rights violation and Section 1983 claims.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with police officers, detectives and other officials to determine what occurred during shootings and arrests
• Investigate allegations of improper conduct
• Visit prisons to interview and depose witnesses
• Defend clients in civil rights and Section 1983 litigation

Required profile

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Interest in U.S. constitutional issues and defending government officials and municipalities
• Comfortable interacting with officials and investigating allegations of improper conduct
• Ability to visit prisons and interview and depose witnesses
