Staff Attorney, Children's Legal Services

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its Dallas immigration team. The attorney will provide direct legal services to unaccompanied children released from Office of Refugee Resettlement custody, helping them obtain immigration relief and navigate the U.S. legal system.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews with child clients, assess eligibility, and file applications for special immigrant juvenile status, asylum, T visas, and U visas.
• Represent children in Texas family court, immigration court, and before USCIS asylum offices.
• Manage a moderate to heavy caseload of children’s immigration cases.
• Coordinate with IRC multidisciplinary teams and external partners to connect children with needed services.
• Collect, manage, and report client and program data in line with IRC reporting requirements.
• Supervise legal assistants and/or interns as needed.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an ABA‑accredited U.S. institution.
• Active admission to the Texas Bar in good standing.
• Fluency in Spanish.
• Passion for immigration law and experience providing immigration legal services.
