Staff Air Quality Specialist

About the role

SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for a Staff Air Quality Specialist to join its national Air Quality practice. The position is full‑time, hourly, and can be performed on a hybrid or remote basis from any U.S. office. You will support a variety of projects in the power generation, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare air permit applications (NSR, Title V, PBR) for submission to federal, state, and local agencies.
• Perform air emissions calculations using engineering methods, emission factors, and operational data.
• Conduct regulatory research to determine applicable air quality requirements.
• Draft technical sections on air quality, greenhouse gases, and climate change for CEQA, NEPA, and FERC documents.
• Develop input data for air dispersion models and interpret model outputs under guidance.
• Assist with health risk assessments and greenhouse‑gas analyses for permitting and impact studies.
• Prepare emissions inventories and compliance reports in required formats.
• Track project tasks, coordinate internally, and communicate with clients or agency representatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in air quality work for power generation, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
• Strong technical writing ability for environmental documents.
• Detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and proactive problem‑solver.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid/remote environment.
