Staff Accountant – Automotive Dealership

About the role

The Staff Accountant supports the Controller and dealership leadership by ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with internal controls, and timely reporting. This full‑time, onsite position works closely with department managers on day‑to‑day accounting tasks and special projects.

Key responsibilities

• Post and reconcile daily cash, check, and credit‑card deposits.
• Reconcile bank accounts, floorplan financing, and manufacturer statements.
• Post and reconcile vehicle deals, commissions, and incentives.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Maintain accurate general‑ledger entries and supporting schedules.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Prepare and submit sales tax, payroll tax, and other required reports.
• Support internal and external audits and manufacturer financial reporting.

Required profile

• 2+ years of accounting experience in a dealership business office.
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes and GAAP principles.
• Experience with dealership DMS systems such as CDK, Reynolds, or Dealertrack.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills, professional demeanor, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Authorized to work in the USA and able to pass background, MVR, drug test, credit check, and hold a valid driver’s license.
