Sr. Software Development Engineer – National Imagery

About the role

Esri is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join its software development team at the Tysons R&D Center. The role builds and releases software technologies at the intersection of GIS, photogrammetry and remote sensing for the defense and intelligence communities, working with developers and product engineers to create tools for imagery users and analytical workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Understand U.S. DoD and intelligence community user requirements and develop GIS and remote sensing software for defense and intelligence scenarios
• Develop image processing and analysis capabilities for EO (MS and HSI), TIR, radar and motion imagery
• Build cloud-friendly desktop and enterprise software for workflows using NITF, GeoTIFF and MISB-compliant video (FMV)
• Develop image processing components, algorithms and APIs
• Collaborate with developers and product engineers to integrate community toolkits and libraries into ArcGIS
• Solve complex problems around application design, development and user experience; more experienced candidates lead projects and mentor junior developers

Required profile

• 5+ years of development experience with high-performance imagery applications
• Experience with COTS or GOTS software
• Significant experience in remote sensing, image processing, photogrammetry and image analysis
• Experience in the defense and/or intelligence communities
• Able to work with controlled unclassified information (CUI)
• U.S. citizen able to obtain a U.S. Top Secret clearance with SCI access
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, engineering, remote sensing, photogrammetry or a related field

• Esri APIs and ArcGIS (recommended)
• NITF format familiarity (recommended)
• Processing pipeline optimization (recommended)
