Sr Research Lead

About the role

CooperVision is seeking a Sr Research Lead to establish and implement advanced research sub‑programs that develop novel concepts addressing unmet eyecare needs. The role operates onsite in San Ramon, CA, guiding cross‑functional teams with minimal oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, optimize and execute research programs to develop concepts for business opportunities.
• Guide cross‑functional research teams to achieve milestones and advance sub‑program goals.
• Design research protocols, perform analysis, and produce clear reports with recommendations.
• Identify, contract, and manage external research partners, ensuring data ownership and milestone delivery.
• Support invention activities, apply industry trends, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• PhD with 10+ years of clinical research experience, or OD/PhD with 5+ years.
• Ability to work independently with minimal management oversight.
• Extensive collaboration with internal teams and external researchers.
• Willingness to travel to research partners, conferences, or other sites.
