Sr. Director, Commercialization

About the role

The Sr. Director, Commercialization will lead the execution and partner management of Newlab’s flagship programs, focusing on mobility, manufacturing, and industrial partnerships. This senior role bridges global startups with industry and government stakeholders to create clear commercialization pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mobility, manufacturing, and industrial programs, overseeing high‑stakes partnerships with OEMs, tier‑1 suppliers, and government entities.
• Scope, launch, and direct new programs that help partners leverage global technology innovations.
• Ensure programs deliver commercialization outcomes, including pilot opportunities and regional job growth.
• Drive program revenue growth by identifying expansion opportunities and deepening partner engagement.
• Maintain quality control, partner satisfaction, and deliverable standards across assigned programs.
• Manage program P&L, staffing models, and resource allocation to ensure healthy economics.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and improve systems and workflows for seamless execution.
• Collaborate with Detroit Managing Director, Chief Strategy Officer, and Global Head of Business to engage industry and government partners.
• Translate strategic conversations into durable partnerships through scoping, proposal development, and commercial agreements.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience leading complex program delivery, client management, or innovation execution in manufacturing, industrial, or deep‑tech ecosystems.
• Background in management consulting preferred; STEM education (engineering, physical sciences) or demonstrated ability to work with complex technologies.
• Proven track record of managing multi‑stakeholder programs and delivering commercial outcomes.
