Specification Representative

About the role

Richelieu Hardware, an importer, distributor and manufacturer of specialty hardware, is looking to fill a permanent Specification Representative position at its St-Louis office. The representative builds the Richelieu brand and generates specifications for its products, coordinating all aspects of specification.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with architects and designers and position the company and products with A&D firms so they appear in specifications and generate sales.
• Train the A&D community on products and developments, mainly through product presentations.
• Maintain documentation, databases and call reports in the High Gear tool, and respond to all specification inquiries.
• Manage specifications throughout the life of a project and coordinate product sales with inside sales staff and management.
• Promote the Richelieu brand and highlight high-end products that appeal to cutting-edge designs.
• Set clear expectations and goals, spread them to the team that closes specifications and produces sales, and foster a high-performance culture.

Required profile

• College degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a specification role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, professional attitude and teamwork across all levels.
• Ability to turn strategy into action, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines, and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Networking and relationship-building to qualify prospects, and good judgment and problem-solving.

Required skills

• Computer literate, with experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Analytical, planning, organizing and monitoring skills.
