Space Systems Engineer – Space Protection

About the role

Stratos Solutions is looking for a Space Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) support to a government customer in Colorado Springs, CO. The role focuses on space protection, mission resilience, and integration of critical space capabilities across the system lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Support government systems engineering and space protection activities, assessing mission architectures for threats, vulnerabilities, risks, resilience, survivability, and mission assurance.
• Develop and evaluate space protection strategies, requirements, architectures, and courses of action, applying threat‑informed systems engineering to identify mitigation approaches.
• Review technical documentation, provide analysis and recommendations, and represent government interests in engineering reviews, working groups, and technical forums.
• Coordinate across government, SETA, FFRDC, intelligence, operations, and contractor organizations to resolve technical and mission challenges.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s with 1+ year.
• Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements, integration, risk management, and configuration/change management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Systems engineering processes and threat‑informed engineering.
• Knowledge of space mission architectures, satellite constellations, orbital operations, and command‑and‑control systems.
• Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)/Digital Engineering, Agile methodologies, cloud technologies, Jira, and Confluence.
