Software Technical Support Engineer

About the role

IPConfigure is seeking a Software Technical Support Engineer to work on‑site in Norfolk, Virginia, providing advanced technical assistance to integrators and customers ranging from small installers to Fortune 100 companies.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate complex technical information via phone, email and electronic services.
• Analyze customer problems, debug, troubleshoot, write scripts and ensure full resolution.
• Create technical content such as Knowledge Base articles, samples, whitepapers and training material.
• Identify and report software bugs and customer suggestions.
• Build and configure servers, install software, test cameras, install network switches and run cables.
• Visit customer sites when remote access is unavailable and provide on‑site troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to convey technical instructions clearly.
• Self‑motivated, target‑oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a sense of ownership to drive issues to resolution.

Required skills

• Linux and Windows system administration.
• Networking fundamentals, TCP/UDP, firewalls, certificates and authentication.
• Scripting and automation (e.g., JavaScript, Linux command line).
• Experience with IIS, SQL Server and Active Directory.
• Debugging and troubleshooting of enterprise video management systems.
