Software Engineering Co‑Op Summer 2027

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking Software Engineering co‑ops for the Summer 2027 term in its MedTech R&D business in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will work on product software that integrates with mechanical, electrical and distributed computing systems, gaining hands‑on experience in a regulated medical‑device environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop product software and related test tools for integrated medical devices.
• Document designs, specifications and requirements following IEC 62304 and internal design‑control processes.
• Participate in 3‑4 month rotations, progressively taking on more complex tasks.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field (sophomore or higher).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 and legal authorization to work in the United States for the full term.
• Strong interest in healthcare and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++ and Python.
• Experience with software development on Linux or similar operating systems.
• Familiarity with software testing frameworks (e.g., Google Test, NUnit, JUnit).
• Knowledge of distributed data services such as DDS, MQTT or similar.
