Software Engineer, Voice Platform

About the role

Sage Care is seeking an experienced backend engineer to build and scale the real‑time platform that powers its AI voice agents. You will design systems that keep live calls responsive, reliable, and easy for product engineers to extend with new patient workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the architecture of a real‑time voice platform across multiple healthcare partners.
• Build runtime abstractions for session state, workflow execution, and model orchestration.
• Make trade‑offs among latency, concurrency, reliability, and cost based on production data.
• Lead the migration to Rust, defining service boundaries and rollout strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve systemic performance and reliability issues.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with real‑time production back‑ends.
• Proven track record of leading large technical projects and making architecture decisions.
• Deep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous execution, networking, and distributed‑system failure modes.
• Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks using production evidence.

• Strong coding skills in backend languages (Rust preferred).
