Software Engineer Internship – Summer 2027

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term in the United States. The intern will join a high‑performing software engineering team, gaining hands‑on experience building scalable, secure solutions that power global digital payments.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to live systems and product features as part of an engineering team.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in modern languages.
• Support design, development, testing, and debugging of software components.
• Develop basic automated tests and apply secure coding practices.
• Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and collaborative discussions with product managers and designers.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, graduating December 2027 or later.
• Fundamental understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core computer‑science concepts.
• Interest in software testing, debugging, and problem solving.
