Software Engineer I

About the role

Uber is looking for a Software Engineer I to join the location services team in San Francisco. You will help build and maintain backend systems that power trip planning, booking, and real‑time location resolution for millions of riders and drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship backend services that deliver accurate location data.
• Implement APIs and services that enable reliable trip planning and booking.
• Optimize data pipelines and infrastructure for high‑traffic, low‑latency environments.
• Debug, monitor, and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate location services into the broader Uber platform.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience working on distributed systems and large‑scale backend services.
