Software Engineer - Compiler

About the role

Sigma Computing is building a high-performance business-intelligence platform that turns spreadsheet interactions into optimized SQL queries. As a Software Engineer on the Compiler team you will design and maintain the core compiler infrastructure that powers fast, reliable analytics on cloud data warehouses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain compiler infrastructure and intermediate representations that translate spreadsheet operations into optimized query plans.
• Apply advanced optimization strategies to improve performance and accuracy across diverse query workloads and data architectures.
• Develop backend components in Rust and contribute to key frontend foundations using TypeScript.
• Debug, analyze, and resolve complex issues to ensure robustness and maintainability of the product.
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders on design reviews, code quality, and architectural decisions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building high-quality software systems.
• Proven success building and maintaining complex infrastructure or core platform services.
• Strong understanding of computer-science fundamentals, especially compilers, algorithms, and SQL optimization.
• Experience working in an iterative, high-cadence development environment.

What we offer

• Base salary range $170,000 – $235,000 per year.
