Software Development Lead - FAA TFDM

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Software Development Lead in Eagan, MN, to join a team developing and maintaining software that improves aircraft runway and terminal congestion. The work supports the FAA's Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM), a NextGen program that gives controllers, aircraft operators and airports a shared, real-time view of traffic to make flights more efficient from gate to gate.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the FAA air traffic control display software in an object-oriented environment (primarily C++/Java) on a UNIX/Linux platform
• Perform software development as needed for the TFDM system
• Provide support needed for system engineering
• Develop the design for the user interface framework, including client and server-side components
• Work in an Agile Scrum environment, both as a team member and independently

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
• Experience in object-oriented design and development in C++ and Java
• Experience following a documented software development process
• Experience with UNIX and Linux operating systems
• Willingness to travel to customer sites

Required skills

• Version control tools such as Git, Subversion or CVS
• Desired: Qt GUI development, Ansible, shell scripting and Python
• Desired: other languages (C, Ada, Perl), Atlassian suite and JIRA, and FAA air traffic domain knowledge

Selectees are subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Pay range: $87,100 - $157,450.
