Software Development Engineer – Backend (San Jose)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Development Engineer to join Adobe’s Unified Profile team in San Jose. You will help build large‑scale, real‑time data systems that identify users across devices and deliver personalized digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly reliable, scalable backend services handling billions of events daily.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to define product requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Lead engineering projects, drive architectural decisions, and ensure high code quality through reviews and testing.
• Optimize performance and scalability of services to achieve high availability and fast response times.
• Operate services in public cloud environments such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MS) or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas and strategies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java and Scala.
• Experience with big‑data frameworks such as Spark and Akka.
• Deep understanding of API design, REST, HTTP, JSON.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, caching strategies, and asynchronous patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
