Software Design Engineer - RISE Program

About the role

Stryker is recruiting Software Design Engineers through its two-year Rotational Intensive Specialized Experience (RISE) program, made up of four six-month rotations. The program gives highly talented engineers exposure to new product development, quality, product testing and simulation, with rotations tailored to each person's interests and business needs. Graduates present to leadership at the end of each rotation and, upon successful completion, may apply to any open Stryker role.

Key responsibilities

• Support new products and process introductions, documenting everything according to Stryker's new product development procedures.
• Ensure quality of process and product as defined in operation and material specifications.
• Determine and implement design approaches and parameters, run feasibility studies and hold an active role in NPD team discussions.
• Analyze equipment, run experimental tests, select components and evaluate vendor capabilities.
• Keep designs cost-efficient, manufacturable and reliable, and submit periodic reports to the manager, supervisor or mentor.
• Present accomplishments to the team and leadership every six months, and may interact with customers to resolve product issues.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Software, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, graduating in December 2026 or spring 2027.
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (or equivalent).
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.; no sponsorship needed now or in the future.
• Self-starter with analytical and problem-solving skills, able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and externally.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience in an FDA-regulated or regulated industry is beneficial.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• High level of PC skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.

• Pay ranging from $77,700 to $168,400 per year depending on location.
