Senior Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

Stryker is looking for a collaborative Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Portage, working in a hybrid arrangement. The engineer leads software sustainment efforts, investigates and resolves product issues, implements design changes and partners across functions to deliver high-quality solutions. The role suits someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and improving released products.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and correct complex product design issues using independent judgment
• Estimate code development time and resources to support sustainment projects
• Generate and review requirements, design, architecture, bug and test documents for sustainment projects
• Mentor others in industry standards such as design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations
• Follow and mentor others on post-market and sustainment procedures such as design controls and risk management under the Quality Management System
• Support post-market and sustaining engineering, including investigating and resolving product issues in the field and manufacturing
• Drive design changes and continuous improvement for released products (CAPAs, nonconformances, reliability issues)
• Act as technical subject matter expert for production line escalations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
• 2+ years of experience developing software for embedded systems using C, C++ and/or Python

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of IDEs used for projects
• Tools for static and dynamic analysis, memory management, code coverage and software analysis techniques
• Integration and deployment processes, and Software Development Life Cycle processes
• Creating estimates for code implementation time and resources
• Application Lifecycle Management / traceability tools

What we offer

• Salary of $89,300 - $148,800 USD annually
