Social Services Provider I / II – Department of Juvenile Justice

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking qualified Social Services Providers (Level I or II) to deliver rehabilitation counseling, mental health assessments, and therapeutic services to youth in custody. This position works under broad supervision to support the emotional and social development of assigned clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake services and mental health screenings for youth, ensuring timely completion per policy.
• Perform comprehensive mental health assessments, interview youth and families, and compile written reports following professional standards.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and crisis management plans, providing both individual and group therapy.
• Make referrals to external providers as needed and document all actions in the youth’s record.
• Provide on‑call evening and weekend coverage for urgent mental health needs.

Required profile

• Under broad supervision, ability to assess, plan, and deliver mental health services to adolescents.
• Strong understanding of psycho‑social stressors, risk factors, and strengths in a juvenile justice setting.
• Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with agency policies.
