Snowflake Cortex AI Engineer

About the role

OnTrac is seeking a Snowflake Cortex AI Engineer to design, build and operationalize AI-powered data solutions on Snowflake for an enterprise financial-services customer in Las Vegas. The role combines customer engagement, solution architecture, data engineering and hands-on AI implementation, taking solutions from workshop and proof of concept through to production. It suits a highly technical, customer-focused engineer who can engage executives and build production-grade AI and data platforms.

The position is long term and full time or contract, with an expected start as soon as possible. It is onsite Monday to Friday in Las Vegas, and candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Las Vegas area and authorized to work in the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AI-powered data solutions using Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Code (CoCo) and CoCo Desktop
• Develop and deploy retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, semantic layers and enterprise AI applications
• Architect scalable data platforms on Snowflake, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, dbt and cloud-native services
• Build robust ELT/ETL pipelines and real-time integrations
• Lead customer workshops, architecture reviews, proofs of concept and production deployments
• Develop reusable accelerators, patterns and best practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of IT experience after graduation
• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data platforms
• Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture, security, governance and performance optimization
• Experience building LLM, RAG, vector search and agentic AI solutions
• Strong customer-facing communication and solution-architecture skills

Required skills

• Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Code (CoCo / CoCo Desktop), Snowpark and AI/ML integration patterns
• Strong SQL and Python
• Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP)

Nice to have: Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Advanced: Architect, Data Engineer or AI), Streamlit, Dynamic Tables, Snowpipe and Snowflake Native Apps, experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or open-source models, knowledge of enterprise security, governance, privacy and compliance frameworks, and banking, payments or other regulated financial-services experience.
