Skilled Worker – Public Works

About the role

The Township of East Brunswick is seeking a full‑time Skilled Worker for its Department of Public Works. You will perform a variety of trade‑related tasks supporting construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal buildings, roads, and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate light, medium and heavy‑duty trucks, including snowplows, sanders, loaders and backhoes.
• Perform masonry, carpentry and electrical work on township facilities.
• Maintain and repair storm‑sewer pipes, roadways and public infrastructure.
• Respond to emergencies outside normal hours and work in adverse weather conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of related experience in municipal or construction maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license and Class B CDL with appropriate endorsements.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions accurately.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools such as saws, drills, grinders, sprayers and cement mixers.
• Experience operating vehicles equipped with snowplows and spreaders.
• Knowledge of trench shoring, barricading methods and storm‑sewer pipe installation.
• Ability to operate loaders, backhoes and other heavy equipment safely.
