Painter I – Skilled Painting and Maintenance

About the role

The City of Dayton Public Works Department is seeking a skilled Painter I to perform brush and spray painting on municipal buildings, as well as maintain mechanical and automotive equipment. This full‑time, onsite position offers a competitive hourly wage and the opportunity to work on a variety of public‑service projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform skilled brush and spray painting of buildings in accordance with trade standards.
• Maintain and service mechanical and automotive equipment used by the department.
• Follow safety procedures while working at heights, in various weather conditions, and around fumes or chemicals.
• Complete work under the supervision of a technical supervisor, who will review tasks during and after completion.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of limited‑skill painting experience or completion of an approved painting trade training program.
• Valid driver’s license at time of appointment and throughout employment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb frequently and up to 100 lb occasionally.
