Service Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Service Manager for its Burlington store. The role keeps the store running smoothly by supervising and coordinating employees across all departments so customers receive prompt, friendly service. It is an hourly position reporting to the Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, with all other positions as direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Maintain positive employee relations and plan, prepare and adjust work schedules, assigning duties and following up on completion
• Supervise employees across the store in the Department Manager's absence and act at all job levels when needed
• Address customer issues promptly and professionally, and train workers in store policies, procedures and job duties
• Evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions, transfers or dismissals
• Train and enforce safety procedures, and complete customer accident forms and first reports of injury
• Order merchandise, verify deliveries, check quality and report discrepancies
• Set up ad and promotional displays and ensure product quality and quantities meet demand
• Manage managerial data such as sales, inventory and display reports, and review personnel records and payroll basics
• Handle cash registers, Western Union, money orders and hunting and fishing license transactions
• Recommend cost-reduction programs and changes to shelf allocation, and handle confidential information with discretion
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, report to work on schedule, and perform physical duties such as order fulfillment, POS transactions and cleaning

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Two or more years of similar or related work experience preferred
• Able to stand and walk frequently during a shift, and to use sharp knives and blades safely where applicable
• Exposure to heat and burn hazards and to dust, noise and temperature extremes; ability to operate a delivery vehicle per DOT standards where applicable
