About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Courtesy Clerk in Burlington, Wisconsin. The role is an essential part of the customer experience, helping customers from the register to their car and keeping the store clean, stocked and welcoming. It is an hourly position in the General department, with no education or experience required.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile, learn their names and make every visit a great one
• Package customer purchases and help them transport them to their mode of transportation
• Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals during the shift
• Clean registers, restrooms, the break room and backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed
• Clean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable
• Stock, face and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, read shelf tags and pull products forward to keep shelves full and organized
• Check prices on products as needed
• Maintain front-end supplies such as paper and plastic bags and receipt paper
• Train new courtesy clerks and deliver product to customers
• Assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines, shovel, salt and sand walkways, and take on special projects
• Follow dress standards, Hy-Vee policies and report to work on time

Required profile

• No education or experience required; training is provided
• Able to follow written or verbal instructions and work as part of a team
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures and count and record accurately
• Physical: frequent standing and walking, repetitive standing, walking, reaching and bending; where applicable, safe use of sharp knives and blades, exposure to heat and burn hazards, and ability to operate a delivery vehicle under DOT standards
• Regular exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, dirt and cleaning chemicals
