Service Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Service Manager for its Fort Madison store. The role keeps the store running smoothly by supervising and coordinating employees across all departments so customers receive prompt, friendly service. It is an hourly position reporting to the Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, with all other positions as direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Maintain positive employee relations and plan, prepare and adjust work schedules
• Supervise employees across the store and act in the Department Manager's absence
• Train workers in store policies and procedures, evaluate performance and recommend promotions, transfers or dismissals
• Enforce safety procedures, fill out customer accident forms and first reports of injury
• Order merchandise, verify deliveries and report discrepancies
• Set up ad and promotional displays and check product quality and quantities
• Manage managerial data such as sales, inventory and display reports, and review personnel records
• Handle cash registers, Western Union, money orders and hunting and fishing license transactions
• Recommend cost-reduction programs and shelf allocations, and handle confidential information with discretion

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Two or more years of similar or related work experience preferred
• Able to stand and walk frequently during a shift, use sharp knives safely, and operate a delivery vehicle to DOT standards
• Exposure to heat, noise, dust and cleaning chemicals is expected
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
