Service Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Service Manager for its store in Jefferson City. The role keeps the store running smoothly by supervising and coordinating employees across all departments so customers receive prompt, friendly service. It is an hourly position in a fast-paced retail environment, with night and weekend shifts required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Maintain positive employee relations and plan, prepare and adjust work schedules
• Supervise employees across the store, especially in the Department Manager's absence, and act at all job levels when needed
• Train workers in store policies and procedures, evaluate performance and recommend promotions, transfers or dismissals
• Enforce safety procedures, fill out customer accident forms and first reports of injury
• Order merchandise, verify deliveries, check quality and report discrepancies
• Set up ad and promotional displays and compile sales, inventory and display projection data
• Review personnel records, understand the basics of the payroll system and handle cash registers, Western Union, money orders and hunting and fishing licenses
• Recommend cost-reduction programs and shelf allocations, and handle confidential information with discretion
• Follow Hy-Vee policies and report to work on time

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Two or more years of similar or related work experience preferred
• Ability to stand and walk frequently during a shift, and to use sharp knives and blades safely where applicable
• Exposure to heat and burn hazards and to dust, noise and temperature extremes
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle according to DOT standards where applicable

Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screen. Reporting lines go to the Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, with all other positions reporting to the Service Manager.
