Service Department Team Leader

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Service Department Team Leader in Oxford who plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the store's service departments. The leader acts as mentor and coach, drives customer service and sales while keeping the store appearance up to standard during peak hours.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, and spend most of the time in the store.
• Handle staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs, and promote succession planning through career paths and development needs.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed.
• Own the P&L of the department, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink.
• Mentor and coach team members so they exceed customer service and sales goals and keep the area to Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational experience in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Required skills

• Clear, precise communication to team members and conflict resolution.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyse financial and statistical information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling and to mentor team members, hourly workers and team leaders.
