Server - Market Grille

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Server for its Market Grille dining area in Burlington. Servers are central to the dining experience, creating a warm atmosphere while delivering food and beverage service to every guest. The role takes orders, serves meals, prepares drinks and makes sure customers leave satisfied. It is an hourly position in a fast-paced restaurant setting.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests by name and welcome them when seated
• Present menus, answer questions and make recommendations
• Take food and beverage orders and enter them into the computer system for the kitchen
• Serve food and beverages and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables
• Prepare hot, cold and mixed drinks and chill wine bottles
• Check on guests during their meal and fix any issues
• Verify guest ID to meet minimum age requirements for alcohol
• Prepare checks, collect payment and report tip income accurately
• Clean tables and counters and stock coffee, food, tableware and linens
• Wash dishes and order product and supplies as needed
• Answer the telephone promptly and work as a team
• Follow Hy-Vee policies, dress standards and hygiene rules, and report on time

Required profile

• No education requirement; 0 to 2 years of related work experience preferred
• Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout a shift
• Ability to use sharp knives and blades safely where applicable
• Exposure to heat and burn hazards from cooking equipment where applicable
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle according to DOT standards where applicable
• Pre-employment drug screen required
