SEO Technical Specialist

About the role

The SEO Technical Specialist joins Macy’s in‑house SEO team to drive strategic technical SEO initiatives across multiple business units. You will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to ensure the website’s architecture supports optimal search performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits covering crawling, indexing, rank cannibalization, site structure, server logs, and faceted navigation.
• Partner with the Director of Technical SEO and product teams to deliver projects from discovery through implementation.
• Set up monitoring and alerting for crawlability, site speed, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, metadata, redirects, and overall site health.
• Develop and maintain an internal linking strategy aligned with SEO goals.
• Provide strategic SEO guidance on new website features and ensure alignment with best practices.
• Produce regular technical SEO reports with analysis, insights, and recommendations.
• Stay current on Google algorithm updates, AI search trends, and emerging SEO technologies.
• Support QA testing for dynamic rendering, Akamai redirects, and bot management.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency with technical SEO platforms and tools.
• Solid understanding of search engine algorithms, SSL certificates, and web architecture (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for cross‑functional teams.
• Continuous learner who keeps up‑to‑date with changes in the search ecosystem.
